Black woman in love with Bosnian

A friend and I are contemplating a trip to Bosnia Herzegovina ,Croatia and Slovenia.
We are conducting numerous research about blacks visiting these countries and the results are not very encouraging at this time. Can anyone who has visited or lived in these countries shed some light on the experiences of blacks in the aforementioned places, both negative and positives. I'm extremely interested in any display of racism against blacks and interracial relationships involving black women and Bosnian men.

I can't speak specifically about Bosnia, but we did see a fair amount of Black American tourists in Croatia, including some interracial couples and families who appeared to be having a great time. But I think it's good to be cautious and do some research as well, many parts of Eastern Europe are experiencing a revival of nationalist neo-fascist parties which tends to be pretty unfriendly to all people of color, Jews, gay people, and so on. I don't know much about that in former Yugoslavia specifically but it's an ongoing issue in places like the Ukraine, Poland, Greece, Hungary, and so forth.

Sarah, the bad vibes you refer to are, unfortunately, in Hungary. Still, I think it would be a rare occurrence if any one of color actually had any sort of problem. The tendency is to direct their issues against their own people; but welcome tourists with a lot of compassion and kindness. I know, its a paradox. Also remember that we are talking about a pretty well defined minority and not the general public. Problem is it only takes one bad apple...... Budapest has a fairly healthy gay population despite the problems. To be honest I would go to Budapest before I would go to a lot of places in the US if we were an interracial couple (technically we are by the way), gay or black or otherwise unique. Still a lot of people may look but know for the most part its because you are going to be exotic and unique to these folks.

I agree, I think Budapest is still safe to travel to, most of these countries still are. But I think it's good for people to be aware of the issues there that might lead to complications or at the very least, inspire them to do as much research as possible before they go.

We were in Croatia last week. We saw some black families, although not many. I have no idea how they were treated.

We were 5 weeks in central Europe, Sep and Oct. The ETBD tour ended in Slovenia on Oct 1, after which we spent more time there and in Croatia and Bosnia-Hercegovina. Being a whitey who hardly notices skin tones when at home, it seemed that those with darker skin tones in that part of Europe were so under-represented that they stood out. I didn't sense any particular ill feelings, resentment, any of that, by those individuals or those around them. Then again, since I am a stranger to those societies, it might be hard for me to pick up on.
You are asking the right questions, and at the right time. I suspect and hope you will have a very enjoyable time there, with little or no down side. Except for riding the jammed bus and tram in Sarajevo, we enjoyed everything we saw and did in Ljubljana, Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Mostar and points north.

Are we supposed to assume the Bosnian is not black? We saw blacks and biracial couples in Ukraine who seemed comfortable.
