Just want to bike the spit for a day, so will stay 2 nights in the area. Any strong opinions as to whether we target staying in Nida or Klaipeda? Seems there are bicycle rentals at both locations. Just wondering if anyone has experience with this they might share to help steer us one way or the other. We'll be there in May so being somewhat offseason, I'm not anticipating any issue with finding a room at either town. Thanks!

Hope this does not come too late. We have been in Klaipeda since Jan. and were at the spit on Tues. It is quite early in the season, and restaurants seemed to be just opening up. Getting from Klaipeda to the spit is quite easy, so I would recommend staying here if you plan do the biking in one day. It is not an expensive city, has good restaurants and interesting public art, etc. You have probably already checked to see what festivals might be going on in either place during your visit. That might affect your decision. Let me know if we can give restaurant info.
