Best Travel Time to Turkey?

May and September are both great times to travel to Turkey. In the heart of the summer, it's pretty hot. But shoulder season is lovely. Unfortunately, I doubt you'll save any money on lodgings--only early spring, winter, and late fall will be lower rates. Of course, you may find it easier to book desirable cheaper hotels in May or September, since there will be somewhat fewer tourists.

I would avoid Ramazan--eating during daylight hours is a bit problematic, and eating after dark you will find restaurants crowded with fast-breakers.

I agree, late august and early september is the best time. Ofcouse prices are lower in Sept. ~10-20 %
It is important that what kind of holiday your are aiming... sunshine, beaces, historical places, green areas, middle Anatolia? Istanbul?....
just for your information, Ramadan is on Sept.29th to Oct.2nd. And you can have a different experience in Ramadan, It is not a problem for visitors, also it is a kind of different color :)

We were in Turkey in September and the weather was great. A bit warm during the day, but nothing to worry about. Wonderful at night. Ramadan was no problem, as far as eating. During Ramadan, some Turks fast during the day, others don't. They had no problem with tourists eating during the day. About the only issue was trying to get a table just before the local people break their fast. This is around 6:30-7:00PM, but the time changes, based upon sunset. Just find out the local time for breaking the daily fast. Then plan upon eating 45-60 minutes before or after that time.

I am in Istanbul right now and the weather is absolutely lovely. Warm - upper 70s and low 80s with a good breeze in most of the city and places.
