best itinerary for 10 days in Europe after daughter studies in Prague

After our daughter studies in Prague from May 17-June14, we'll join her in Prague for a few days to see where she's been, then want to see some of Europe for the first time. We're considering driving the Romantic Road trip to Germany
or flying south to Dalmation Islands. Would love to hear advice on these ideas or any other suggestions. We travel 6/12 - 6/23.

How about seeing more of central Europe while you are there. Plzen is just a few hours south of Prague. Linz and Vienna are train rides away from Prague. Plzen and Linz don't get as many tourists as many of the most popular cities or regions.

You don't need to drive 400km to the Romantic Road just to see some preserved towns. Since you have a car you can also build your own, custom RR. A round trip to Vienna and back to Prague for instance could look like this: Prague - Kutna Hora - Jihlava - Telc - Trebic - Mikulov - Valtice - Vienna - Wachau valley - Cesky Krumlov - Ceske Budejovice - Trebon - Jindrichuv Hradec - Tabor - Prague Some towns in this itinerary, like Telc, Kutna Hora, Cesky Krumlov or Kutna Hora, can easily compete with every town along the RR. A similar round trip to the Czech/German border region and back could look like this:
Prague - Melnik - (Oybin) - Görlitz - Bautzen - Dresden - Saxon Switzerland - Meissen - Freiberg - Seiffen - Annaberg-Buchholz - Karlovy Vary - Loket - Cheb - Marianske Lazne - Plzen - Beroun - Prague

From Prague I would head towards Vienna, Salzburg, and then fly out of Munich. Train between cities. I didn't include Budapest because you have 10 days and not enough time.
