Am poring over the latest Rick Steves book on Istanbul, and not yet sure if I will do the RS tour, or if I'd prefer to go completely on my own, but --any advice on websites for best round trip air fare Los Angeles (or Santa Barbara or Burbank) to Istanbul and back? A quick perusal showed slightly cheaper fares in May, but June might be better, schedule-wise, and yet, not surprisingly, fares seem higher.
Any and all advice welcome! Thanks!

Look into Turkish Air out of LAX, they have been offering lower fares than all to Istanbul.

Turkish Air flys out of Chicago, JKF and Toronto. You could fly to Paris and connect to Turkish Air to Istanbul. You are flying during peak season and
fuel is expensive...expect to pay.
