Beaches-Greek Islands or Turkish Coast?

My husband and I will be traveling to Greece and Turkey for two weeks in June and July. We are planning on visiting Rhodes a few days, taking a flight from Athens and will end up in Istanbul for 6 days for wedding. We are interested in visiting an area with sandy beaches that are great for swimming and relaxing. We're looking for suggestions of islands or towns on the Turkish coast with sandy beaches and worth a stop of a few days. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Since you'll be in Rhodes you can easily catch a ferry to Fethiye, and just about 30 minutes away by local bus is in my estimation the most beautiful beach resort in the Med, Ölüdeniz. Check for photos using "Google Images". You won't be disappointed. http://tinyurl.com/7gcr5e9

Thanks Lee! Your suggestion sounds great, I just wonder if it will be overpopulated by tourists in late June. I know this is hard to avoid in many towns, but I think we'd like a less touristy area and a little more quaint...if such thing exits. Do you know of any other towns, maybe near Istanbul, since that's where we'll end up? Thanks!

It's going to be difficult to find a beach in June/July that isn't busy. If Ölüdeniz is too touristy then take the ferry from Rhodes to Bodrum and check out Gumusluk. It's smaller and a lot less popular. You can be there in 30 minutes on a local bus from Bodrum. http://tinyurl.com/6wp8lxu

Thanks again Lee! Now I'm wondering if it would make more sense to spend more days on the island of Rhodes and visit some of the beaches there. Do you know much about the beaches on Rhodes? We were thinking of staying in the Old Town of Rhodes but I wonder if we should stay there the whole time if we want to visit the beaches as well.

Sorry, but I've never been to Rhodes. I'm sure if you ask questions on the Fodors or Tripadvisor websites you'll get some excellent advice.
