I am just beginning my research for my next big trip which will be in Aug/Sept 2010. I am sold on going to Turkey. of course I will continue to do my own research via books and the internet but was wondering if I could get some recommendations of favorite beach towns. We would prefer sandy beaches and NOT the mass tourism/tour package groups. Small is fine. Just beaches, some shops and restaurants and we are good. Any recommendations are appreciated!

Christy - I have been going to Bodrum and Kusadasi for many years and would stronly suggest either place. Great prices for everything and wonderful beaches.

Patara on the Mediterranean coast has, in my opinion, the best sandy beach in Turkey.
