Banks and currency exchanges at Athens airport

Does anyone know the answer to this question? The hotel I'm booked at in Athens tells me banks close at 12:45 on Fridays and do not open again until Monday. We are arriving at the airport at 3 p.m. on Fri. I saw on line they have several banks and currency exchanges at the airport, but no information on their hours of operation. Any idea if they stay open late? It would certainly make sense, since flights arrive at all hours. (I just remember the laissez-faire ambience of the airport in Crete some years back!) Our hotel wants cash on arrival, and obviously we will need money in Athens over the weekend. I can get Euros here with a bit of doing, but hate to pay the commission (although it might be no worse than what you get gouged for anywhere else). Thanks!

Currency exchange businesses at the airport will be open, but if you have a VISA or Mastercard ATM card you will be able to use the ATM machines and get a much better rate of exchange. ATMs are everywhere in Greece now and have become the most popular means by which to obtain money.

Bigger question is how much cash do you need? You should be carrying two independent debit cards anyway so that should give you access to maybe 500E or more. And then you can hit the ATMs for another 500 plus the next day and the next day.
