I was checking the timetables for the Athens to nafplio route here http://www.athensinfoguide.com/buslineswinter/busTT2.htm#KorininthosArgosNafplio. We would very much like to visit Corinth on this leg. If we buy tickets from Athens to nafplio that stop in Korinth and Argos, can we stop and take a later bus to continue to Nafplio? Or do you generally have to purchase a bus ticket for each leg, Athens to Corinth, Corinth to Nafplio?

I think you'd need to buy the tickets separately, but I'm not absolutely sure about this.
In any case I think you'll find that the easiest thing to do. The Athens to Nafplio bus doesn't go into Corinth itself but stops at a service station on the ring road. We passed through there a couple of weeks ago and there was no sign of any taxis. I'm sure it would be possible to call one from there, but it might prove to be complicated.
If it were me I would get a bus that actually goes into Corinth. From there it is fairly easy to get a bus or taxi out to Ancient Corinth, which is where I assume you want to be.
