Athens restaurant

Hi everyone. We are writing from the beautiful city of Florence. We are about to leave wifi territory and need some info. I had and lost (gave to a fellow traveller) the Greece book by Rick Steve's. previously we followed his advise on a restaurant in Athens but can't remember the name or location. The food was out of this world. If someone could look it up I would be very greatful. In the book the place is described as having a unique feature of no menu. They just bring around a tray of different dishes and you pick five plates off of it. Dinner comes with lovely homemade wine. If anyone out there has been there or has this book and can look up the info for me I'd be sooooo happy.
Thanks

I believe the restaurant u mean is Scholario. But like so many Rick recommends, the very mention tends to convert the tip into a tourist cliche. Myself, I find that place these days mediocre at best (and I am not a newcomer to greece or Athens), and only provides variety if you have MANY in your party. If u would like a restaurant with "small-plate" (Mezedes) variety, here are 2 others: (1) For a great view of lit-up Parthenon at night, have your hotel call FILISTRON & get a TERRACE table reservation (they don't take online reserves). (2) Another place where u can sample quite variety (because u can order half-portions of things) is MANI MANI. Both of these are on SOUTH side of Acropolis, the first, right on the pedestrianized promenade, the 2nd a bit south of the Acropolis Metro Stop; again, ask your hotel to mark addresses on a street map. You'll be pleased w. both.

Unfortunately we are only in Athens this time on a cruise stop. Wanted to go to a place we knew was good.
Thanks so much
