Athens New Acropolis Museum

Any feedback on this new museum. It wasn't open yet when we were on a Rick Steve's tour last year and we are going to be in Athens again in October. Best sights, hours to view etc. anyone?

It's a super museum ... I gather you already have been up on the Acropolis; we usually advise that one go to the the Acropolis first thing in the AM (8:15 or so) to beat the tour crowds, then go to the Museum. Museum is all-glass, so at every turn you look out through the wall and see the Parthenon... so evocative. On the top floor a layout of the parthenon is the EXACT size & orientation of the temple, with existing panels in place, and plaster copies of the items being held hostage in Britain... underscores the magnitude of the "taking." Unforgettable.

Also.. the museum cafe is delightful, indoors AND outdoors under a canopy in full view of Acropolis, good prices ... rest your feet and enjoy.

PS: a special bonus, in the entry-way, glass-block flooring shows all the ancient buildings that were discovered during construction.

I concur with Janet's opinion. Excellent museum and seeing all the original fragments and sculptures is a must. Of course, the Parthenon fragments are copies and I found the museum pretty blunt about their opinion that the originals were stolen from Greece.

Do have lunch in the cafe. The food is good and the view awesome.

I'd reserve about 2 hours total to see everything pretty thoroughly.
