My wife and I will be arriving at Athens Airport around 11:15pm. We need to stay near airport because we need to pick up the rental car the next morning. We are looking for a budget hotel near airport. Your recommendation would be greatly appreciate it.

Hi Gil...The airport is somewhat distant from the city and from most acommodations. There are only two options that I know of - neither are what you would call budget. There is a Holiday Inn nearby. I haven't stayed there but I believe it is a short taxi ride. The is also a very nice Sofitel right in the airport. It is a very easy walk, less than a city block, and given the location it is remarkably quiet. The drawback is that it is more expensive. Check the websites. The prices will depend upon which night you are arriving.

Hi George, First of all I like to thank you for your response to my posting. I have been looking for a reasonable hotel near the airport, but they are over my budget. I found only one with a reasonable price but if I add up Taxi roundtrip(I have to come back the next morning to pick up rental car) still expensive. This might sound silly but I think necessary. I am willing to sleep in the airport waiting areas. You think I can do that? it would only be for few hours(4 or 5). I have to pick up the car between 5 and 6 am. I can't affort to pay an expensive hotel for 4 or 5 hrs. Please advise. Thank you

You'll have to take a taxi there but if you wait until after 8 AM in the morning they will return you to the airport to pick up your rental car.
