I'm going on a group tour in 3 weeks, flying in and out of Tbilisi, and I have a few practical questions - like ATM's, shopping, etc. I was somewhere in Belgium (must have been a Tuesday) when the pre-flight meeting took place, and the tour guide is now in the US for his son's wedding.
I am really excited about the trip. I just want to ask someone who's been there as a tourist for some practical advice. There's just no one local available who's been there lately. The tour guide is great, but he won't be back here until a couple of days before we leave. I'm sure all go fine.
Hi Chani, Are you familiar with Arnold from Colorado who posts on this site? He seems to be the go-to guy for travel in less-traveled eastern European countries, and you may want to shoot him a PM if he doesn't see this thread. Hope you have a great trip and you know the rule... trip reports are mandatory...
Have you tried the Thorn Tree forum on the Lonely Planet site? I checked there briefly and there seems to be a fair amount of activity on the sub-forums on Georgia and Armenia. BTW, I'm with Angela - a trip report is mandatory :) I've wanted to go to that part of the world for some time.
Just seeing this now as I wait at the airport for my final leg home after a long trip to SE Asia and the Pacific rim. I went to Georgia and Armenia on my own last summer so drop me a line and I'll try and answer your questions.
