Hi-we are planning to visit Santorini in early May 2010 and stay for four nights in Oia. We will find most shops and restaurants open or is four nights way too long at that time of year? Thanks in advance-China.
Hi Steve,
Thanks for getting back to me. I'm really glad to hear that and we're really looking forward to our visit.
Thanks again!

Yes, the hotels, shops, galleries and restaurants will be open in early May. If you want some hotel recommendations for Oia state your maximum daily room budget in Euro.
4 days will go incredibly fast.
Should be a great time to visit! Shops and restaurants will be open, it will be warm, but not stifling, and the throngs of tourists will not be there yet. Oia is gorgeous, you will love it.
China - As the previous posters have noted , the answer to your question is Yes - I live there about 5 months a year and May is Fantastic. Be sure to check out my favorite - Galina Cafe - WOW - What views!!!

We are also going to Santorini in May. Is 75 Euro a good measuring stick as far as budgeting for accomodations in Oia?
Thanks!
If you want a caldera view that's on the low end and there are only a few available at that price. Check Casa Sofia, Villa Kallisti, Thea Studios, Delfini Hotel, Aspa Villas (top floor only has a view), Stelios Rooms and Old Oia Houses.
If a caldera view isn't a "must" check the Anemomilos Hotel, Casa Francesca/Musses Studios, Oia's Sunset Hotel and Lauda Hotel.
Santorini will be "awake" by then so there will be plenty to keep you occupied.
My mistake. Lauda Hotel has a caldera view.
China......four nights on Sanorini is perfect. You will love it in May. You will find most all of the shops and restaurants open for the season.
Oia is a great place to stay. The best, IMHO. Keep asking questions and get assistance from those on this board. Try hard for a caldra view because this beautiful view is a big part of the attraction of Santorini.
