I am going to Greece in April and hoping for at least a few nice days. I don't like to lay on beaches all day, but would also not like to be frigid cold. Keep in mind I come from Portland, OR and it is really rainy and miserable here! What has your experience been with the weather in April, especially in Crete and Santorini? We would like to do a lot of sightseeing, hiking, relaxing, and want to take a lot of pictures!
April weather is unpredictable, windy, cloudy, damp and humid indoors if your room is a cavehouse. It can also be bright, cloudless and sunny, it just depends. There's no real way to tell.
If you plan to be there over Greek Easter, April 19th and haven't done so already, be sure to book all your flights, ferries and hotel rooms ASAP. That's the busiest time of year for Greeks returning to their family homes for the holiday and everything is booked solid then.
This is one of those impossible question. Lee is correct. I would suggest it will be a lot like Portland. Laying on the beach is out of the question unless you are using a wet suit. Look on the globe and see how far north that area is.
We can all agree that weather is unpredictable. Look at the yahoo weather page for average temps of each city for every month on the year.
