Is there some trick to finding a 2 bedroom apartment with double (or bigger) beds in each, rather than 1 bedroom and a sleeper sofa in the living room? I think I must be using the wrong search vocabulary. Thanks for any help.

The Anglicized expression in Turkey is 'aparthotel'. You can also do an apartment search on www.booking.com or www.vrbo.com Knowing in advance which area of Istanbul you prefer will help narrow down the search.
