Any shops or restaurants around Prague Holesovice station?

Hi all, I posted a message earlier about arriving to the above station on Sunday night (around 8pm). I tried to google information for this station and unfortunately not much success. I am wondering are there shops or restaurants open around the station when we arrive?

thanks,
Sonia

Here were snack stands, newspaper stands, etc. I don't recall anytin that I would call a restaurant, more stuff to go. It wasn't the cleanest station so we didn't spend too much time there. As far as shops, again, mostly newspaper-like stands. I think there was a liquor store.

Prague impresses me as more old-world than most other cities of Europe. You probably wont find any shops or restaurants at that hour.

We walked the city about that time one night and I don't remember seeing any shops or restaurants. There may be some, but I wouldn't count on any being open.

Like Jody I don't recall anything other than the odd snack stall round the station. On the other hand it is only a short hop into the centre on the metro.

It's certainly not true that places are closed by 8 on a Sunday. Plenty of places will be open and you'll have a wide choice, just not round the station.alf a dozen stops on the metro will take you down to Muzeum, the stop on the top of Wencelas Square. There are a number of restaurants in this area which, although they cater mainly for tourists, are fine if you want something to eat after the journey.

Have a good trip

Thanks!

The reason I am asking for this is that we would like to know if there are any places for us to break our crown notes so that we can use the vending machine to buy metro tickets to go into town.

I remember last time when i went to Japan all I had with me was 10 000 yen note and it was difficult to break that (the note was big for the newpapers stand). And I just want to be prepared this time, especially when I need to get to the accomodation before they close at 10pm....

There is a ticket office at Nadrazi Holesovice and they should be able (If reluctant!) to change a large note.

Depending on how much you think you will use the metro a pass, rather than a single ticket, would be worth considering. A 3 day pass is 330 kroner, for example, or was in May last year.

Can't guarantee it, but the ticket offices at the other main metro stations are.

Whereabouts is your accommodation? A couple of hours should give you plenty of time to get anywhere in Prague. The public transport is really efficient and frequent.
