Any hotel suggestions for Kiev?

We are only spending two days so want to make the most of it. Would truly appreciate any tips!

Happy travels

Assuming price is no option since you didn't mention it, I can definitely recommend the Hyatt Regency. Great location in front or one monastery and 2 mins away from another. It will definitely set you back a good bit of money - I used points for my stay.

I suggest you get a good guidebook and brush up on the Cyrillic alphabet - you will need it especially on the Metro. I am partial to Lonely Planet's guidebooks and used the latest Ukrainian one when we traveled there last summer.

For a cheap way to try lots of different local foods, try and find a chain of cafeterias that are frequented by students. The LP guide lists this - there is one in center of town close to the independence monument and I saw another close to the bottom of 'Andrew's descent'. They have a wide variety of dishes that are incredibly cheap (by US and European standards) - and is a great way of sampling the local cuisine. And to top it off, they have a number of beers on tap. What more could you ask for!

You can also download or print the free city guide from inyourpocket.com - written by locals and the most upto date.

Not exactly sure what type of accomodation you are looking for, I have a reservation at the Rus for my upcoming trip.
