Albania travel

We're traveling to Albania from Greece next month and wanted to know about restaurants in Sarande and near Butrint.

Sorry, can't help you - but PLEASE post a report here after you're trip. I've been wondering if Albania might be worth a trip. I figure its so close to many great places that are now just a bit too popular, but wonder if the country's long isolation has preserved its charm, or if its xenophobic government boiled away any charm it might have had.

There is a small cafe called Restrant Livia at Butrint, but I just had some sodas there, no food. I don't recall much else in the area, so it is probably the best bet. Sarande has restaurants along the promenade. We ate at one a little further from town, overlooking the harbor and beach. Very tasty continental type food, pretty cheap too, but I don't recall the name. I guess the best plan would be to go, and eat at the most crowded spot.

You might consider looking at Lonely Planet or posting on their Thorntree board. Albania in the past has ranged from "stay away" to "edgy" to now, maybe "new destination", but not yet "Rick Steves" recommended destination. LP tends to cover just about every area in a range of costs.
