Airports and flight info Turkey

Hello guys I am trying to look up tickets from Istanbul to Cappadocia (round trip) and it seems that it is really cheap to flight out from the Sabiha Gokcen Airpor in Istanbul to Kayseri airport. I know both of them are a little far from Istanbul and the other one to Cappadocia. Any thoughts? how can I travel from istanbul to the Sabiha Gokcen airport? and also... how do I travel from Kayseri to my destination (Cappadocia). Thanks!

I can't answer all of your questions, but hopefully I can get you started and others will chime in. There are several ways to get to Sabiha Gokcen. A taxi is always an option. Local buses run there. I suspect that the airport's website will have the routes/bus numbers. I think there is a shuttle that runs to the train station. There used to be a Havas shuttle that served a couple of locations (e.g. Taksim). I think that has been discontinued, but is worth investigating as it is a good oprion if it's still running. The airport website is probably your best place to start. The Lonely Planet guidebooks are also pretty good on transportation information, if no one else responds with advice. I am not too familiar with the Kayseri airport, but I would not count on public transportation to travel in Cappadocia. I suggest that you look into renting a car or working with your hotel or a tour company to arrange a pick-up. The sites in Cappadocia are spread out, so a car is really the best option if it fits in your budget. If not, you might want to ask about recommendations for tour companies that will take you to some of the highlights. Good Luck!

Ivy, did you not see my response to your previous post? Double check that the flights going out of Ataturk are just as inexpensive to Kayseri because going to Sabiha Gokcen is a bit out of the way. If you decide to leave from there, ask your hotel about shuttle options. In Kayseri, same deal. I took a shuttle van arranged through the hotel I stayed in. Get the Lonely Planet Guide!

For lots of helpful information about Turkey, look at Turkey Travel Planner. Here's his information about Sabiha Gokcen airport transit: http://turkeytravelplanner.com/go/Istanbul/Transport/s_gokcen_transport.html Given the extra hassle, time, and expense of using Sabiha Gokcen airport for Istanbul, I'd gladly pay extra to use Ataturk instead. As for Kayseri to Cappadocia, I have no personal experience, but my sister used her hotel's transfer service, and said this was the best way, particularly due to the distance and the time of her flight arrival.
