What is the best way to get from the airport in Prague to my hotel? My hotel is very near a metro station. Also, could someone explain the currency? Thanks in advance!

Get Rick's guide to Eastern Europe. We just returned from Prague using his book. We arrived by train and purchased the tram/bus pass to get closer into the Old Town where our bed & breakfast was located. Depending on the station you arrive into, Rick's maps will help guide you!
Rick also has currency info in the book. For Czech Crowns, take their currency amount, say 1,000, and multiply by 4 and drop the last two zeroes-for $40 USD. However, we found that the dollar had changed, and multiplying by 5 was a bit more accurate.

Certainly the cheapest is to go by public transport. Buy a ticket (single or for 24 hours or 72 hours etc.) at the information booth about transit at the airport. Then go to bus 119 , stamp the ticket on board, go to the end of line at Dejvicka station, change to subway (METRO) and if your hotel is on that line it will be easy. Otherwise you will change to another line where your hotel is (there are maps of subway system all over)and it will be still easy. The original ticket is valid in subway too.

Oh yes, currency. $ is in free fall right now so you get about 17.50 Czech crowns (koruna) for $1. It hurts considering that about 10 years ago I was getting 38 korunas for $1.

Shuttle vans and taxis are quite expensive and the metro is modern and easy to use. Search for online maps of the Prague metro and use them to plan the route to your hotel. If Prague doesn't come up, try Praha.
