Agean Airlines carryon baggage

Does anyone have recent experience with Agean Airlines? We are worried about the weight of our carry-on luggage. On the website and on the phone the allowance is 8 kilos (17.67 lbs) for (1) carry-on. Because of our profession we travel a variety of essential digital equipment and always carry it with us in a regulation size carry-on. It's way more than 8 kilos and I have been told I'll have to check it. If we lose it, we're done for! Is there an official way around this weight rule? Are there exceptions to the rule? Is it strictly enforced? A second question concerning small personal items like a purse, ordinary tote and small/med back pack in addition to the above mentioned carry-on. The official policy does not address these like other airlines do. Does anyone have experience with Agean Air taking on board a carry-on plus personal bags?

Flew with them almost two years ago. I don't remember having an issue with them, but from what I've been told (and personal experience on flights in Turkey), it can be totally random. How did I manage to get around some of those issues? Take a big jacket and hang it over your carry on so they can't see the size of the bag. I tried it once when I was flying on Easy Jet and they were really inspecting bags. I got away with it :-). Godd luck.

Linda, I don't recall any particular issues with carry-on luggage on the flights I've taken with Aegean. I don't remember them actually weighing my carry-on. The one carry-on item is fairly standard with European budget airlines. Whether Aegean chooses to strictly enforce it may depend on which staff are "working the gate" the day you travel. If your bags are carry-on size and don't look too heavy, they may not ask to weigh them. If there is an issue, I'd probably tell them that you have expensive and sensitive electronic equipment that can't be checked. That may or may not help? Good luck and happy travels!

I flew a couple of times both were at very early hours just so I can get cheaper tickets. the flights were not full and I didn't seem they being picky about bags. they fly nice planes and felt better than many domestic flights we have here.

By the far the greatest flying experiences I have had were on Aegean and Olympic Airlines. How often do you step on a plane and the flight attendants offer customers candy after walking in the plane?
