I'm visiting Europe for the first time with a three-day stay in Prague. Budget is an issue, so I'm trying to find something affordable, safe and clean (under $60 a night would be great). Any insight on the general safety and conditions of pensions, hostels, and apartments? Any suggestions on specific spots I should check for availability. Thanks for any guidance!

Google cheap hotels in Prague then click on stars and start from 1 to 5. Under US$60 those are mostly hostels with private room, bathroom in the hallway and usually not in the center. Once I stayed in a nice pension about 30 to 40 minutes by public transport from the center. Price was 600 Kc. Approximately US$30. Website: http://www.pensionhattrick.cz
