Aegean Airline

I am flying from Athens to Santorini in June 2012 and am wondering if anyone has used Aegean Airlines and did carry-on. The airline states 55cm x 40cm x 20 cm. I have a backpack that is 9 x 21 x 14, is this close enough? I understand the conversion is 21.7 x 15.7 x 7.8, from cm to inches. Weight will not be a problem for me.

I seriously doubt that you'll have a problem, but the worst-case scenario is that they'll make you check your backpack. There won't be any charge and the Santorini airport is not very busy so retrieving it won't take much time at all.

I agree with Lee, checking on Aegean is really no issue, if you need to, little chance of losing the bag (point to point) and pick up is quick.

Cheryl, I travelled with Aegean Air last year in the opposite direction, from Santorini to Athens and then Athens to Milan. I checked my main Backpack and had a Daypack for carry-on. I don't recall anyone even asking about the size or weight of my Daypack, or measuring it. The airport in Santorini seemed a bit "informal", but it's possible the staff in Athens will be a bit more strict. However, I doubt that you will have a problem. Happy travels!

if it's not too big they won't measure you. however, you may want to avoid mid day flights just so you don't get a crowded flight with other people's carry ones.

I fly Aegean every couple months. No one is going to measure your carryon bag.

Thanks for the reassurance. Now if I was as comfortable with the carry-on restrictions with Air France. My original flight home, leaving from Athens to Amsterdam was cancelled and had to change flights. Leaving Athens with a change over in Paris and flying Air France, a Delta partner.
