Advice on where to go after Adriatic trip ending in Dubrovnik

We are doing Rick's 14 days in the Adriatic in Sept. Looking for advice on where to go afterward. Rick suggests Montenegro, esp. Bay of Kotor, which sounds great. What else would you recommend? Thanks,
Craig and Sally

If you head back north to just beyond Split, I also enjoyed the coast & small towns between Trogir, Sibenik and Zadar. You could also maybe head towards Corfu after Montenegro??

How much time do you have? Montenegro is spectacular, and close to Dubrovnik. There are some great stops south of Kotor as well, such as Budva, the ancient capital of Cetinje, Mount Ostrog, etc. I should think that you could easily fill a week in Montenegro. Fun beaches as well, maybe stop for a few days and relax? You will have already done Mostar, so no reason to backtrack. Although, you might consider Sarajevo or belgrade if you have some more time.

Thank you Mike in FL. Those sound like some good options. Now we just have to figure out what city to fly out of! Some ideas on that would be helpful too!

There are flights from Podgorica and Budva (Tivat) to major European cities. Otherwise, you can use Dubrovnik as well, which may have a better selection of flights.

Split too is well connected. Or you can ferry to Ancona, then bus or train back to Rome.

Montenegro is spectacular and worth a visit if you still ahve time. Albania used to be a "dead end" but is now accessible with regular bus service from Ulcinj (nice beaches) to Shkodra and then onto to Tirana. When I did that run a few years ago it cost me 20 Euros and I was told that I overpaid! Ancona would be the logical destination by ferry from Dubrovnik, but you could also go to Bari if you felt like like cutting across the heel of Italy, seeing Naples and then heading north to Rome.
