My Wife to be an I are honeymooning in turkey (just wanted to be different). We don't want to try and cram in to much stuff. We will be there a little less than 2 weeks (11 days not counting travel in and out of the country). We are spending Four days in Istanbul and probably 3-4 days in capodocia. Does anyone have a suggestion for a third stop. We were thinking maybe Cirali or Antalya area. Also, how much time should we devote to Cappodocia is 4 days to much or about right?
I suppose it depends on your interests. Are you flying in and out of Istanbul? I would keep 4 days for Cappadocia, since it is really a whole day to get there and get out again.
I would add Ephesus/ Izmir since it is reasonably close to Istanbul for your flight out, and has arguably the most impressive Roman ruins in the world. Also, Izmir has some cool sights itself.
Antalya is beautiful as well, and if you are looking for some relaxing time in the sun, it might be better than ruins. It just depends on your interests, really.
Hi Paul,
In my opinion, 4 nights in Cappadocia is about right. We enjoyed our stay in a cave hotel (Esbelli Evi.) They arranged a driver for us to tour Cappadocia for 2 days. Other people staying there took a hot air balloon ride over the region. I think it would be a good honeymoon destination. We also liked the town of Goreme and spent one night there. There is lots to see in Cappadocia, great hiking if you like and some good restaurants.
I agree that Ephesus/Selcuk would be a good third destination for this trip. You could also add a day or two to Istanbul--it's a huge city!
Congratulations!
