Accomodations in Turkey (Dalyan, Fethiye, Kas, Olympos)

We will be driving from Bodrum to Antalya at the end of July/beginning of August. We will have 5 nights. Any recommendations for places to stay?

Also, any thoughts on whether we need to reserve in advance or if we can find suitable lodging along the way at that time of the year?

What sort of accommodation are you looking for? What price range? You'll be traveling in the high season, so it might be better to book ahead unless you are looking for a B and B room. Olympos caters to a backpacker crowd interested in sleeping in treehouses and partying. If you prefer a more sedate accommodation, you might prefer Cirali, which shares the beach with Olympos.

Hi Jer,
We do not need or want to spend the money on luxury accomodations, but also we are definitely not in the partying, hostel-staying backpack crowd.
It's my mom and myself. We are looking for safe, clean, and comfortable places. We like local charm. I think we'd prefer small inns over large hotels.

Price range: It would be nice to keep it under $100 a night. (We'd love to find good places for a lot less, and we could pay more if the place is worth it.)

Thank you for any advice/recommendations you can give us!

In Fethiye, I've liked the Villa Daffodil. It's a small, cozy place on the main coastal road just past the marina. The tropical gardens there are lovely, and they will cook a seafood dinner for you to order that is top-notch with the freshest seafood of the day. Ask for a room at the front with a juma (a traditional screened in balcony) overlooking the harbor. The only downside is that breakfast is merely adequate--the usual cheese, bread, olives, fruit, eggs, etc but no fresh orange juice and poor coffee. In Cirali (adjacent to Olympos) I strongly recommend the Hotel Canada, run by an expat Canadian and her Turkish husband. Good Turkish home cooking and Carrie and her husband are so helpful with advice on touring the Mediterranean coast. The pool there is excellent and the gardens lovingly tended. Rooms are a bit plain but squeeky clean.

Both are well within your price range.

If anyone else out there has recommendations, I'd love to here them. Especially for Kas or Olympos/Cirali.
Thank you!

I also recommend Hotel Canada in Cirali, just a 5 minute bicycle-ride from Olympos. The hotel is reasonably priced, in a lovely, relaxing setting about 10 minutes from the beach. The owners have bicycles that you can use to explore the area.

In October we stayed at the Happy Caretta in Dalyan, Myland Nature in Cirali, and Atelya Art Hotel in Antalya's old town. All were reasonable in price (we were on a budget), very clean, and everyone was friendly.

My family will be following a similar excursion this summer and plan 5 nights along the Lycian Way. We are wondering if we can stay in one place and make excursions or whether we should select a couple of locations (Kas and Cirali?). Also, in high season, can we find places as we go or should we book in advance. Like Laura, we are interested in small, clean places with local charm rather than party-central or the larger resort hotels.
