Does anyone have suggestions for accomodation in Brasov? I am looking for a place that is within walking distance of the old town or in the old town itself. If possible I prefer to spend no more than $50 per night. I am travelling alone.

As Brasov is getting discovered by the hordes of tourists $50 might be hard to accomplish. You can do a little research for yourself. Lonely Planet Romania guidebook is very helpful. You can also do an online search for Brasov, Romania hotels.

lonely planet has a few listings in brasov. i used one can't remember the name or the addr now but it's an old Hungarian guy's home on a backstreet from the old town. private room and shared bath with other travelers. it was pretty cheap, clean and safe. the hot water and heater in the room are very tricky to work with, plus the black/white tv sends back to the 60s.

Kathy, my wife and I stayed in the Old Town for around $50.00 per night, you can walk from the room anywhere in 5 min.
