Accommodations in Poland

My sister and I would like to experience a bit of Polish culture by renting rooms in private homes ("Bed and Breakfasts"?). We'll be flying into Krakow and taking the train to Przcmysl, the ancestral homeland of our maternal grandmother. We'll need a few nights in each of these two cities around the end of May (firstly, 2-3 nights in Krakow, then 3 nights in Przcmysl and possibly another 2 nights in Krakow before we venture on by train to Prague). We'd appreciate any help anyone could offer. Thanks!

WE went from Vienna to Krakow and from Krakow to Prague last October. The train stops at Katowice going both directions and you have to get off and catch another train. We don't know the Polish language and had to find an English speaking young person to help us. The Krakow train station is undergoing construction so the incoming trains stop beneath a shopping mall that you have to find your way out of. Once outside you are in the train station plaza. To your left is the old train station which was still open when we were there which has the ticket counters and departing trains. To your right is a newish hotel where we stayed, but it is very expensive. Straight ahead is the pedestrian entrance to the old city area. Trains seemed inexpensive in Poland and if you take one be sure to get a first class ticket. Second class cars are for those who want uncomfortable adventure.

You are welcome. One more thing. We always look for a young person to help with language problems. They are always glad to help. In some train stations there will be an international window and in some you don't have a choice. Pick the international window first. If there isn't one you will be directed to the English speaking agent. If that doesn't look like it will work write your destination and class number on a slip and give it to the agent while you are going through your hand and lip gestures.
