Accommodationin Warsaw

Thanks to all for help on my last question about going from Vilnius to Krakow. I have decided to fly from Vilnius to Warsaw and would like to find decent accommodation at budget prices in Warsaw. Where should we see and what eateries and pubs can you recommend. Most searches i try for accommodation start at about £35 for double room. Although in our mid fifties, we like to enjoy the occasional beer or ten lol.

Janice, check out the Castle Inn in Warsaw; the location is unbeatable, right on Old Town Square. There are lots of places to eat and drink near there. RS Eastern Europe guidebook has a lot of good information for both Warsaw and Krakow.

Although I don't recall the name, there's a delicious perogie restaurant located at the intersection of Aleje Jerozolimskie and Nowy Swiat (the large traffic circle with a metal palm tree in the middle). Loved it, but skip the bortsch here, which seemed to be little more than the juices from a can of beets.

I stayed at a place nearby called Boutique Bed and Breakfast. What I remember most is the owner, who was quite a delightful character, and the strange design of the bathroom.

I stayed at the Oki Doki Hostel in Warsaw last August. It was just lovely. I was travelling with another woman and we had a double with a shared bath that was actually very cozy. I cannot speak for breakfast as we left too early but it was walking distance to the train station, not far from the Palace of Culture (AKA Stalin's You Know What.) It ran about $50 a night for two. Very clean.
