Any suggestions for a small village to travel to outside of Prague? I don't want to go to Terezin (too far & too sad). I would like to paint & taste the local life for a day. Need public transport from Prague, going solo as a woman.
Kutna Hora. By bus or train. Stay overnight or day trip. Cathedral of Santa Barbara, ossuary in suburb Sedlec (walk, taxi or city bus), silver mines. More about Kutna Hora in Rick Steves book: Prague and the Czech Republic.
Cesky Krumlov is a great alternative, two hours by bus from Prague. We used the Student Agency bus and had a great experience.
Actually Prague to Cesky Krumlov is almost 3 hours (2 hours 55 minutes) by time table (if there is no delay).
I think C.K. is a great idea for a day trip. About 3 hours by bus (student agency), and very inexpensive. It's a small town that is easy to cover in a few hours, and there are many beautiful vistas to paint!
