OK, I'm flying to Rome,spending the night there toward the end of this month with a group. We will board the Royal Carribean then cruise to Sicily, Athens, Crete, and Esphesus, Turkey. What safety tips, can you give us in traveling to these ports of call. Also it will be fall and we're on a cruise ship, so what should I pack?

Mix and match clothes, sun hat, wind breaker (light and oh so wonderful on windy days), layering, an umbrella, good walking shoes, flip flops and swimsuit w/coverup, one pair semi- formal shoes (no high heels). Ditch the dresses and go for tunics, sweaters, pants that sort of deal. For "Formal Nights" toss on some bling a/o a nice scarf. None of the places you are going to will be dangerous or particularly pick-pockety. Wear your money belt, leave the real bling at home, don't go into dark alleys at midnight (ha ha). Women generally don't look directly at strange men in Turkey. Do that kinda looking towards but to the side thing that face it, probably all of us do in order to avoid unwanted attention. If this is your first cruise you will over pack. ONE suitcase with room left for a few purchases to bring back. Packing light will enable you to take the train from Rome Termini to the port I forget, $20. Easy walk from train station to cruise port (turn right leaving the train station). There is a bus which will take you from the entrance of the port to your ship.
