accessibility

My husband ( who cannot walk and uses a manual wheelchair) and I want to vist Vienna, Prague and Budapest. We would like to use the trains to get about so need to know if they are accessible. I think he will need help to get on and off the trains. Is there a service that would help and how much notice do they need.? Once in these wonderful cities how easy is it to get around? He is used to rolling long distances ( approx 6 miles a day so we dont mind walking around to see the sights. I would appeciate any help. Thanks.

Tough problem. Personally don't view Europe in general as very accommodating for those with limited mobility. Have your reviewed the Accessible Europe under Diverse Travelers on the Graffiti Wall? Once in the cities you probably will be alright but streets/sidewalks are often very rough. The newer trams will have roll on access but the older ones do not. Most subways have elevators but can be out of the way and hard to find.
