6 Month passport rule

I am traveling to Spain on November 2. I am a US CITIZEN. My passport expires on April 15, 2008. Will this pose a problem?

Best to check with the Passport Office. That way there are no surprises. I'd get right on it! You're leaving in just a few weeks, right? Lucky, you!

Fly safe!

You shouldn't have any problems. I'm in Spain right now and your passport needs to be good for 3 months after your last day in Spain. So unless you're staying past January 15, 2008, you should be fine.

Chances are you will be OK, but be prepared to be hassled. As mentioned, contact the passport office for advice, you may be able to get a renewal quickly and avoid any problems. Aside from the, the only places you would be hassled is at the airport leaving (the airline may try to warn you) and upon entry into Spain. Check with the Spanish embassy site, it may be they only require 3 months as opposed to 6. Also, take a well documented itinerary and your return ticket info, even with less then three months, if you show proof of return, and maybe proof of financial support (Bank statement, etc.) they would be more likely to let you go.
