Day Trips Out of Frankfurt, Germany?

I will be in Frankfurt, Germany three days prior to joining up with a group, and would like suggestions as to best/most interesting Day Trip out of Frankfurt. I will already have travelled to Heidelberg, which is great, but need ideas for other stellar, rather 'near' destinations so that I might see as much as possible in the 3-4 days prior to July 25th, that I can manage. Thanks for all ideas!

you can visit wurzburg - it has a castle on the hill and a small palace. a little bit of walk between the 2 can see the downtown area. it's a little nice town for a walk.

I hope that you have planned some time to spend seeing Frankfurt? While there, do go to Höchst, Bornheim, and Sachsenhausen. I have plenty of suggestions for Frankfurt

For day trips though:

  • Bad Homburg (the Saalburg, Hessen Park)

  • Kronburg (castle built in the 1200's, nice Alt Stadt)

  • Büdingen (wonderful old castle with walls and dry moat)

  • Marburg (beautiful old university town)

  • Seligenstadt (began by one of the daughters of Charlamagne when she ran away from the palace in Frankfurt in 794)

  • Darmstadt (great museums and parks)

  • Mainz (Dom, Chagall windows in St.Stephens, Isis temple ruins)
