What is the price I can expect to pay. I have checked on the vlak.cz website, but I cannot find full price, just partial. Is 20 euro about right?
I am considering a day trip to Dresden, as it is only 2 hrs away. I am curious to the you the experts if I can see a reasonable amount of Dresden with 8 hrs of time.

We took the train from Prague to Dresden--for us, it was a stopover on our way to Berlin. The fare might be more like 30 Euro and may take a little longer than 2 hours.

It is worth the trip if you have the time and 8 hours is more than enough to see the city!
Dresden needs a lot more than 8 hours to do it justice, especially if you are into museums and want to spend a while at the Zwinger.
That said, you can get a good look around and feel in 8 hours.
We did Dresden in a day (about 8 hours) between Gorlitz and catching a night train to Switzerland last summer and felt we were able to see quite a bit. It was just right for us.
