We arrive on Sunday morning in Athens the leave on a cruise on Wednesday afternoon. We have already been to the acropolis and the Museum near the base of the hill. What can we do in or around Athens from Sunday to Wednesday. What's a good area to stay in Athens. Staying someplace interesting outside of Athens would be OK too. We Prefer basic affordable hotels. Good location and clean and safe is all we need. Free fast wifi too. We are in our late 50's but well traveled.

Michael In terms of an hotel the Tempi might suit you. It's a small family run place on a nice pedestrian square but near the main sites. http://www.tempihotel.gr/ You say you've done the Acropolis but have you been on to Filopappou, the hill opposite? In my opinion it has the best views of the Acropolis and is also a pleasant place for a stroll. we've written up a walk there. Details are about half way down this page http://www.greekramblings.org.uk/Exploring%20Athens.html Filopappou has the advantage that you can do the walk there on a Monday when sites are closed. In terms of sites and museums I really like the Kerameikos. It has some amazing statues, a nice little museum and good views of the Acropolis. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerameikos October is a nice time to be in Athens. I'm sure you'll find plenty to do!
