this train passes through the czech republic and i only have a global pass. where do i get the fare that covers this portion of the trip? is there a site.

How about an Air Berlin low cost flight from Berlin to Vienna? Check airberlin.com. They start from €29 one way incl. taxes.

Barry, if you want to take the train I'd suggest the night train which leaves at 21.09 and arrives at 6.03. You should be able to buy the ticket in Dresden for the CZ part of the trip. It will be about $14 (295 CZK).

I believe you can buy the ticket on the train itself from the conductor, but it's best to let him/her know ahead of time. Otherwise, ask at the train station in Berlin (Zoo Bahnhof).

There is also a night train that bypasses the Czech Republic and runs from Berlin via Leipzig, Nuremberg, Munich to Vienna. All trains leave Berln Hbf, none of them stops at the Zoo station anymore.
