The train from Krakow to Munich, or Germany, is long. What towns can I visit in Poland or anywhere else to break up the trip.

Prague is a natural half-way point between the two.

I also suggest Prague; it is a very interesting town with lost of old world appeal and intriguing history. Hire a guide if you can. Or visit the Tourist Information Office and get a walking tour map.
