2 weeks in Greece in May...

We have 2 weeks to spend in Greece. Any suggestions as to where to spend it? We've heard to do Athens last. We want to go to Santorini too. Thanks!!!

Since you know you want to go to Santorini it makes sense to stick to the islands close by for the most efficient use of your time. The main islands are Crete, Naxos, Paros and Mykonos. Crete is huge and takes at least a week to cover. Mykonos is a lot like Santorini in terms of prices, nightlife, hotels and shops, so Naxos and Paros are left. There are "lesser" islands as well, Folegandros, Sikinos, Amorgos and Syros, which is also the government center for the Cyclades islands. For the best experience choose no more than two other islands besides Santorini.

Hello Carrie. I recommend going to 2 islands of Greece. And, if you will be at Greece for 2 weeks (14 days), you could go on a day trip from Athens to Delphi. People like the physical environment of Delphi -- it is at the side of a hill.

Hey Carrie,
We will be going to Greece mid April to mid May. We will fly into Athens and then on to Crete for two weeks. We are staying in two timeshares there and then on to Milos. We loved Milos. I is small with lots to do and the people are so friendly. Of course the people all over Greece were wonderful to us. Milos is very historic. It is where The Venus DeMilo was found. We will make one more ferry stop on the way back to Athens, spending our last few days there.
If you would like to know more about Crete, or Milos let me know. I have pictures!

I agree with Lee....we flew into Santorini (changing planes in Athens), then spent 3 nights on each island (Santorini, Naxos, and Mykonos) catching the ferry between islands and visiting Delos from Mykonos (easy 1/2 day trip). Took the ferry back from Mykonos to Piraeus then the metro from the port to Athens (Monastiraki station), and then spent 4 nights in Athens. Had a wonderful time, not too rushed, but not so long in any one place so as to become bored. Leaving from Athens airport is easier than trying to make connections from the islands.
