Athens airport to port of Piraeus

In September, my spouse and I will be flying into Athens from JFK. Our arrival is scheduled for 9:40AM, local. We will be flying independently; not part of a group. Does the metro run from the airport to the port, so that we may board our HAL cruise ship between 1pm and 7pm? Is there a better transport to consider?

You have 3 options. 1. Athens Airport Express Bus X96: €5. Cash only. Leaves airport every 20-30 minutes and takes about 75 minutes to reach Piraeus at that time of day 2. Athens Blue Line Metro to Monastiraki Station then Green Line to Piraeus: €8 or 2 for €14 plus small fare for Athens>Piraeus. Purchase together at airport. Cash only. Takes about 45 minutes to reach Monastiraki then another 30 minutes to get to Piraeus. Blue Line departs Airport every 30 minutes. Green Line departs Monastiraki every 15-20 minutes. 3. Taxi: €47. Cash only. Takes about an hour.

Joseph Just to add to Lee's info. If you take option 2, and go via the metro, the station where you change - Monastiraki - is directly under the Acropolis. It looks as though your timings would allow you to come up from the station and have lunch, or a coffee, if that takes your fancy. Alan PS There are left luggage lockers at Monastiraki if you fancy dropping your luggage and having a stroll.
