Hi! I need some help planning my 10 day trip. I fly in and out of Zagreb. Here's my situation: I am going to be spending about a week in Zagreb for business. I leave in a week. After that I have about 10 days to travel around. Here's the thing, I have spent extensive time in Zagreb as a student in the past. I have visited: 1)the Croatian coast 2)Budapest 3) Sarajevo & Mostar - Bosnia and Herzegovina 3) Venice, Italy 4)various places in Romania 5)Beograd, Serbia 6)Berlin, Munich - Germany 7)Prague... and a few other places I can't think of now. I wouldn't mind stopping off at places I have already been too either. I want to visit some place new. I'm at a loss of what I can visit to maximize my limited time in Europe. I doubt i will be going back for a long time. I always backpack and do things real cheap. Please help!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Have you been to Slovenia? There are mountain lakes like Bled and Bohinj (Sp?) for walking/biking/hiking and the Karst region known for its caves. We really thought this was a pretty area and training to Ljubljana isn't too far from Zagreb.
Plitvice Lakes National Park if you haven't been.
I have friends in various places that I have considered planning a trip around: 1) Budapest (Hungary): I have already been there and Szentendre. I know there is much more to see and do in Hungary that I have missed out on. 2)Osijek (Croatia): I haven't been there. Has anyone been to Novi Sad? Is it worth the visit? 3)Rijeka (Croatia): I haven't visited this port town. I have visited multiple towns & islands along the coast though.
