Melissa You might want to consider Athens and Nafplio. Nafplio is just under three hours from Athens by bus. It is a beautiful little town with a lot of good restaurants and cafes. There is a small town beach but a bigger sandy beach nearby which you can reach either by local bus or by walking along under the castle for around an hour. It's possible from here to get to Tiryns ('of the mighty walls' according to Homer) which is only 10 minutes away by bus. There are a couple of buses a day to Mycenae (about an hour) and you can also get to Epidavrus, although the bus times aren't all that convenient. Delphi is also wonderful but if you only have a week, and want to get time on the beach, Nafplio is a better bet. Doing this would mean you wouldn't do an island, but perhaps save that for next time? Alternatively it is easy to do Aegena as a day trip from Athens. Alan

One week is pretty short but Athens is a must for at least 2-3 days. I also highly recommend Delphi, which can be a day trip with a tour group. Then maybe an island? Depends on what your interests are. Do you want to see things or lay on a beach?

Well I kinda do want to go to a beach at least for 1 day, but I am also interested in seeing things as well.

I love Nafplio too but Alan is right, you really wouldn't have time for an island then. Others will have to chime in on islands. Also be sure to check out Matt Barrett's website greektravel.com

Delphi is the most amazing place I've ever been. You understand why the Greeks would trek miles to ask the oracle a question. It has a real sense of place. Beautiful. I also like Nafplio, too. Lovely little city and close to Epidaurus and Mycaenae , both doable in a day. Olympia was nice but I could have skipped it. Everyone told me to only stay in Athens for 2 days at most. I loved the city!
