Zurich to Pontresina, Samedan & St. Moritz

Hello. My wife and I will be making our first trip to Europe flying in to Zurich on May 1st and immediately taking a train directly to Pontresina. We will spend 2 days seeing Pontresina, Samedan, and St. Moritz before taking a train to Varenna, Italy.

Will it be too early in the year to hike while we are here?

Any must see places in these areas if you only have two days?

Looks like the lifts will be closed when you are there. Summer lifts open June 21.

I got this advice from a hiking colleague: Don't set your sites too high; expect to keep your hiking below 3,000 feet of elevation in May.
