Fly into Zürich morning of July 1 → Fly out of Munich morning of July 15
Itinerary (Current Plan)
• 7/1–7/4 — Lucerne — 3 nights
• 7/4–7/7 — Wengen — 3 nights
• 7/7–7/10 — Colmar — 3 nights
• 7/10–7/12 — Stuttgart — 2 nights
• 7/12–7/15 — Munich — 3 nights
Hi! I’m planning a two-week trip in July 2026 for my family (me, husband, and 1.5-year-old). We fly into Zürich on 7/1 and go straight to Lucerne. We fly out of Munich on 7/15 in the morning.
We generally like to move around — we’ve done road trips across Ireland, Iceland, and Japan — so switching hotels doesn’t bother us.
What I’m Considering Changing
I’m thinking about adjusting nights to:
• Lucerne – 2 nights instead of 3
• Colmar – 4 nights instead of 3
Main reason: Colmar seems cheaper and very charming, but I don’t want to make Lucerne feel rushed. Would 2 nights in Lucerne still feel okay? Is 4 in Colmar too much?
Still deciding between trains and rental car (we’re comfortable driving internationally; we’ve done it in multiple countries)
What I’m Struggling With
1. Annecy + Colmar combo
I really wanted both in this trip, but I’m thinking it isn’t realistic without speeding through everything. Is there a way to make both work? Or is that way too spread thin given the rest of the itinerary?
2. Stopping point between Colmar → Munich
I put Stuttgart as a 2-night stop just to break up the drive/train. Is Stuttgart worth it? Or is there a better town to overnight in between Colmar and Munich? Something cute, walkable, good food, stroller-friendly.
