We fly into Zurich then travel to Lauterbrunnen area four 4 days then go back to Zurich. Better to rent a car or use the train you think? Not familiar with trains in that area - is that the way to travel? Thanks!
Train is easy. See www.sbb.ch for schedules and anything else you need to know about public transit in Switzerland.
To give you an idea: The public transit modal share in the Bernese Oberland is 30%. I think in the US only New York does better...
A train from Zurich airport every 30 minutes to get you to Lauterbrunnen. Change trains 2 or 3 times along the way.
You will much prefer using the trains. Everything you want to do in Lauterbrunnen is going to be accessible mostly by train and sometimes only by train/cable car. Parking is a hassle. It can be intimidating at first if you've never done it but their train system is so efficient, clean and easy to navigate. Once you get the hang of it, it's a breeze.
