Planning to stay in each are 3-4 days. Fly into Zurich 2024, do we stay in Zurich or take a train to another destination? It was suggested Lucerne but is that our best option? Pictures are beautiful. Any suggestion is much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Go to Lucerne after arriving in Zurich.
Lake Como is one of our favorite places to visit and you can drive south west to France. We have rented cars in France to use in Italy as rentals in France are much less expensive.

Yes it is your best destination. You can take a train from the rail station at the Zurich airport to Luzern in a bit over an hour.
