Hello everyone,
We are travelling to Lake Como in August for a wedding, along with our 2 and 5 year old girls and their grandparents.
As of now, we are planning to fly in and out of Zurich.
We would ideally like to stop and ride the Stoos Bahn on the way down and do the bernina express on the way back. Idk how feasible either of these are with little ones, luggage and it being our first time there. I know there are direct trains from Zurich to Lake Como, but Id love to experience some things on the way.
Just wanted to get some feedback, plus any other opinions/recommendations for alternatives as well.
We will have about 24 hours to get to Lake Como after landing in Zurich, then spend some days at Lake Como, then have 2-3 days to allow extra time along the bernina express.
Thanks!
Where on Lake Como is the wedding? It's a big lake.
Sorry, wedding is in Laglio area and the rest of the time well likely be staying in Lierna, just south of Varenna
The thing is, the direct train from Zurich to Lugano is a regional, but it doesn't match up with the better known scenic runs. There's no need for it to do that though. There's plenty of scenery in the north/south run across Switzerland. I'd plan on stopping on that route and forget the express.
