We plan on taking the direct train from Zurich Airport to Interlaken via Bern. We plan on buying the Swiss Half Fare Card and BO pass. We will be spending all of our time in the BO region (except for the to/from Zurich).
My question is since the BO Pass covers the train from Bern to Interlaken, do I just pay for the fare/ticket from Zurich Airport to Bern before getting on the train?
Yes.
If you want to save a few Francs and take a more scenic route, go via Luzern instead of Bern. It takes a little more time, but could be worth it. The half fare price from Zurich airport to Bern is 28 CHF, while the half fare price to Luzern is 15 CHF. The train from Luzern to Interlaken goes over the Brunig Pass, so takes longer but the views are stunning. The travel time via Luzern is 3 1/4 hour vs 2 1/4 hour via Bern.
