Zurich to Bellagio

My family (3 adults and one 4 yr old) are traveling from Zurich to Bellagio this summer.
I was thinking the best (i.e. looking for fastest) way to get there is to train from Zurich to Como and then ferry to Bellagio.
Can anyone confirm if this is correct or is there something else to consider?
Which train station in Zurich would that be?
Lastly, how far is the Como train station to the ferry (assuming this is the easiest way to go)?

Thanks so much!

What else are you doing in Switzerland?

If you are landing at Zurich airport, then you book Zurich Flughafen to Como S Giovanni. You will change trains at Zurich HB.

Would I be wrong in thinking that flying into Milan would be easier? I could be very wrong...

It is 4 hours from Zurich airport to Como, then it maybe at least another hour to Bellagio by fast boat, depending on the schedule You will also need a taxi from Como S Giovanni to the Como waterfront.

You can get from Malpensa airport to Varenna in about 2 1/2 hours with a train connection at Milano Centrale and then just a short ferry ride to Bellagio.

Como has two stations: trains from/to Switzerland stop at Como S. Giovanni, uphill, taxi needed to ferry pier; and Como Lago, just in front of the ferry pier, only for a commuter line to Milano.

If the train from Zurich stops at Monza you can connect there with a train to Varenna (direction Tirano-Sondrio), without going to Milan and backtracking; from Varenna, that is on the eastern side of the lake, Bellagio is a short ferry connection.

But if you can adjust timetables for your itinerary Zurich-Como and Como-Bellagio by ferry, probably the ferry trip along the western branch of the lake will be a scenery highlight.
